Art & craft

Kids are born creative! They often express their feelings and emotions through arts. At times a drawing is not just some colour and sketch on a piece of paper; it's their way of communication. It is natural instinct of any human being.

Art such as drawing, painting etc. helps child to keep his mind creative and enhance special skills. It improves child's concentration. Drawing encourages children to perceive and to describe their world in more detail and to use imagination in expressing their observations, ideas and feelings.

Crafts like origami and creating artifact out of any material gives children joy of creation. Handling materials like glue, scissors, papers, clay etc. gives them hands on experience which enhances their physical and mental capacity.

Creating things on your own is also a way of thinking out of the box. It is like taking your imagination to reality.

Drawing or making any artifact can eventually help in academics too. Doing things by hands helps children to improve writing skills and motor skills. Art and craft is also important in developing observation skills.

There are many craft activities conducted at Balbhavan such as Mobile hanging, wall hangings, clay moulding, stick puppets, finger puppets, head-bands, wrist-bands and many small artifacts made out of paper dishes etc. Kids are provided with all required art material. In small age groups (3.5/7 years) art and craft sessions are taken 4 to 6 times in a month. There are some artifacts created as per the occasion such as, clay model of Ganapati during Ganapati festival, lanterns during Diwali and greetings for New Year etc.

Here are some interesting drawings done by kids in Balbhavan.
